Hi guys,
Do you think poker sites are fair?
I've started playing days ago, actually restarted after a long time. I started winning, winning a lot. My luck was on the top. Until I made my second deposit, I was winning. but then, suddenly, it all started to go wrong - just suddenly. I have after 3 days of losing counted what I lose. I would for example have 88 and somebody with 45 would win me. I have A7 with the cards opened A72. the opponent has 48. the next two cards coming are 88.This kind of situations has happened three times more than winning with cards with which you need to win because you have a better hand, and I promise you it has since both me and my girlfriend have counted. It is absolutely shocking. And wherever I win with a good hand is an insignificant hand, wherever we are all in - usually with one opponent, I lose. Honestly, I have AQ and the flop opens AQ5. my opponent has 78. the other two cards are 77. Or, another thing. I have A7, my opponent has Q9. The flop opens A73. two of them are hearts, i have no hearts, my opponent has one heart. Once my opponent bluffs and is all in, 2 more hearts come up - simply serving the win "on a crate" to my opponent.
You might say it can't be unfair, because my opponents winning me are other people, but I have quite a strong reputation, lots of Frequent Player Points and I have a good history, winning a lot. Most of other players don't have as good history as I do. Is this done on purpose, so that those who have won start to lose to those who haven't won, so that everybody continues playing?
Please take it for granted that in the last couple of days, the way I've lost my money was INCREDIBLY unbelievable, absolutely shocking. I understand losing once, losing twice, losing three times with AA, but losing more than winning against one opponent? If you find more than 10% chance of me losing with my cards in the last days all together on average in the hands I've lost, I'd be the happiest person on the planet. Please take it for granted.
I know online casinos are unfair, there is no question about this - my uncle even works as an accountant in a software development company making software for casinos - I promise you, he knows for fact that the developers make the software in a way so that nobody wins, just to give it a try, I've played a russian roulette, not for much, but just to check. After placing bets on red 8 times, I've lost (I've started betting from the lowest stake, £0.03, I won a bit like £0.20, but then lost after getting black for 8 times).
The way it is is that dozens of mathematicians sit down and analyse so that nobody wins - e.g. one person placing bets on the same cannot win.
Are pokersites working in this way as well? many, dozens of factors are taken into account, it could be the player's history against their opponent, the addiction (so if one losses, they know for sure he will deposit again) etc.
P.S. to give more facts - the first couple of days when I was winning, I was playing tournaments of 6 and on average, out of every 10 tournaments at least on 7 of them I would be in at least the 2nd position. This was profitable for me. this has poker software developmentchanged dramatically, especially losing on the last opening card in significant hands, so that it's become terribly unprofitable.
2nd fact. I've transferred some money to my friend. He has had exactly the same experience. He started winning as I was, but then, soon, the same things happened to him - he started losing on the last card in significant hands etc.
What are your thoughts? Please give me any information relevant to this, if you know any facts or figures showing that my view is right or wrong, please post it here, I'd really appreciate it.
i used to play for real money on full tilt. i will never forget, one time i was playing in a tournament. The daily dollar. I flopped a set, there was a flush draw on board. i went all in heads up hoping to get called thinking i was bluffing, and this player snap called. the board was Q K 3. two hearts. I flopped trip Ks. my opponent snap called with 5 7 off suit. The turn and river came 4 6. i never deposited money again. True story
by the way. this whole winning streak on first deposit, and then going on a bad beat tear happened to me2. look it up on poker forums. Its incredible how many people tell the same story. I remember my first deposit i was winning big. Something like $300 from a $20 deposit. Then i started playing heads up sit n gos..i kid u not. i won about 15 straight $20 heads up sit n gos. Then i figured i would move up in stakes and i started playing $80 sit n gos. n my computer would just power out. it happened like 3 times. then i started paying attention and noticed that different players were registered for sit n gos but werent playing against eachother. Its like a conspiracy or something. Im a winning player on the live circuit over the last 9years..but online i deposited a total of about 2k n lost everything over the course of 2 years until i finally decided enough was enough. I realized i had become addicted. And internet poker is totally different from live play
ummm... you are writing to much...
I make it simple: You started winning, you won more, you played more you lost, you wanted the money back you played even more.......
STOP BEFORE YOU GET ADDICTED!
No one want to hear bad beat stories
online gambling is in general more unsafe then real life. a program can be rigged to be un fair. if it sees that you bet on this, it'll be that instead. it's much better to just go ahead and use real chips, real cards, a real roulette thingy. with the computer it is just so easy to make people lose. and like the other guy said, you can get addicted. they hook you when you win a little. then you just lose everything and then your done.
Well, just because you catch cards and get lucky doesn't mean you can call yourself a better player. There was a time where I didn't win anything playing on and off live for a year and a half. Swings happen. It's clear that you might've put a little more thought into this, but when you find yourself going into down swings, turn off the computer! You end up psyching yourself out. Maybe when you are catching cards, you play hands you normally wouldn't. So when you aren't playing ABC poker, and your luck starts to change, you can losepoker software development a lot of money.
I'm not going to recommend playing at online casinos and expect to win. But poker is a game you can control more so than other casino games. I wouldn't link games like blackjack and roulette to poker. You even acknowledged that when you lose in a poker game, it goes to another player and not the house. The house has nothing to gain when you have nothing in your bankroll! Why would they want to bankrupt you? I'm not saying it's not possible for a few employees to benefit from unscrupulous programming, but when those employees leave, wouldn't you think one of them would leak?
But if you do honestly believe that poker is rigged, just quit!
To be honest it sounds to me like you have been out played. Once you raise the stakes you play against much better players and the game become much harder. You need to lower your stakes and learn more about the game before you raise your stakes again. Above all - you must stay true to your bankroll. I am a member of the following online poker community:
We have a completely free poker guide available and you will be able to ask question. We have many experienced poker players on our team and we all help each other getting better.
I didn't bother reading anything beyond the first paragraph, because I've read too many long, rambling diartibes by people who are not as good at poker as they think.
I can't vouch for every poker site, but the best known ones are all completely fair.
There is no 'rigging' no 'doomswitch' no 'deposit curse' or 'withdrawal curse'.
If you cannot beat online poker, it is because you are not a good enough player, or because your bankroll is not big enough to support the stakes you are playing. End of.
Stick to the bigger online poker rooms, none of them are rigged. Some shady things might happen while playing there (collusion and bots - which the bigger rooms protect their players against) but being cheated by the shuffle is not one of them. The poker sites have nothing to gain by rigging the shuffle against you, they get paid either way. You winning or losing makes no difference to them. Sure losing might cause you to deposit again, but in the grand scheme of things you making another deposit isn't going to effect their bottom line enough to justify risking their entire business. If they rigged the shuffle and were found out they would be blackballed and the gravy train would stop. It wouldn't be very hard to catch them either, there are websites that record every hand played and an anomaly within the shuffle would be noticed and reported immediately.
What happened to you was simply a string of wins followed by a string of losses. This happens to everyone, even pros. Some pros win millions in a year and the next year lose half of it back, they know it's not rigged though and keep playing. That's simply the nature of the game.
